Guide - Jutsus and Chakra
In order to achieve victory over their opponents, ninjas have developed a variety of jutsus (literally techniques) which help them defeat enemies. In order to perform a jutsu, a ninja must first perform the necessary hand seals for a specific jutsu before molding the correct amount of chakra, depending on the jutsu rank.
Jutsus have the following types:
Taijutsu
Taijutsu is the art of fighting hand to hand with your oponent unarmed. However, on this forum, armed fights are also considered Taijutsu. There are a lot of variations of Taijutsu styles, some that base on speed, others on power, and others that have specific traits and techniques of their own, being them armed or unarmed styles.
Genjutsu
The art of illusion and deception, Genjutsu is used to confuse or distract one's opponent by messing with his or her senses, in order to grant the user the upper hand. Some more powerful Genjutsus can even incapacitate an opponent by putting them asleep, or making them go insane.
Ninjutsu
Ninjutsu is, as the name says, ninja techniques. These are the most common way for a ninja to fight and extend into the more varieties than any other fighting method.
Ninjutsus can be divided into two different groups, which can then have an infinite amount of sub-types. The first group is the Elemental Ninjutsus, which use the five elements (fire, wind, lightning, earth and water) as a base for offensive or defensive techniques. There are other variations of Elemental Ninjutsus which result from the mixure of these elements, but these are usualy Kekkei Genkais.
The other group is the Ninpo's group, simple ninja arts that use surroundings, or special ninja abilities, such as concealment, spying methods, or arts as a base. Example of Ninpo Ninjutsu are jutsus that use pure chakra (such as Rasengan), jutsus like the ones Akimichi and Nara clans have, and every other ninja art that doesn't involve the five elements.
Also, Jutsus have the following ranks:
Rank E: Academy Student level jutsus. These are the most basic jutsus a ninja can have. Every ninja, in every village can learn these if they wish.
Rank D: Genin level jutsus. More powerful than rank E jutsus, they are usually basic techniques of simple attacks or support. These form the basic set of jutsus every ninja eventually has.
Rank C: Chuunin level jutsus. More powerful than rank D, these jutsus also cost more chakra. Most rank C jutsus are great attacks or defences by Chuunins, and although some Genins also use them as trump cards.
Rank B: Jounin level jutsus. Here the true power begins. These are very powerful jutsus, used to finish fights against lower ranked ninjas and as an ultimate jutsu for some Chuunin.
Rank A: Sannin level jutsus. Extremely powerful and with a great chakra cost, these jutsus are usually used to put an end to any battle. Jounins also have a couple of these techniques, although they only use them in more extreme situations.
Rank S: Kage level or forbidden jutsus. These are the most powerful jutsus there are, usually secret weapons or forbidden techniques. Even Kages have difficulty using these, due to their danger level and chakra cost. There are also some rumors that some Jounins managed to use one of these but only with dangerous consequences.
As a ninja grows up, their power grows as well. The following ninja ranks have the following amount of chakra points:
Genin/ E Criminal: 45 CP
High Genin/ D Criminal: 52 CP
Chuunin/ C Criminal: 65 CP
Special Jounin/ B Criminal: 72 CP
Jounin /A Criminal: 85 CP
Sannin/ Kage/ S Criminal: 100 CP
In order to perform jutsus of certain ranks, one must use the following amount of chakra:
Rank E: 1 to 2
Rank D: 2 to 5
Rank C: 5 to 8
Rank B: 8 to 12
Rank A: 12 to 18
Rank S: 18 to 25
There is a variation on the chakra cost. This variation is due to the rank of the ninja or the nature of the jutsu.
For example, a rank C jutsu could cost only 5 of chakra to a Chuunin while a Genin would use 8. Also, a user of an element, lets say fire, should use less chakra performing a fire jutsu than, for example, a lightning user.
Also, there are no exceptions of costs for Kekkei Genkais. A Kekkei Genkai of rank C will cost between 5 to 8 and that's that.
Jutsus with a long period of usage (like dojutsus such as Sharingan and Byakugan) should have a chakra cost of 1 per post plus the chakra cost of the jutsu activation.
Summonings will also have a continuous chakra cost of 0.5 each post (1 CP in 2 posts). Also, every jutsu the summoning performs will use your chakra although this cost is halved.
Ex. Rank C jutsu (Chakra Cost of 6) performed by Summon will cost you 3.
Ex2. Rank C jutsu (Chakra cost 5) performed by Summon will cost you 3 (impair numbers go up by one and then divided by 2).
Finally, when fighting, don't forget to put your current chakra and chakra limit.
Ex: 43/60 (For a Chuunin)
Remember this when performing jutsus in battles.
Learning New Jutsus
Every ninja starts off with a certain amount of Jutsu Points or JP for short. These jutsu points are used to 'purchase' jutsus for your character. Choose wisely because once spent, they will not be given back.
The Jutsu Point each rank of jutsu needs is the following:
Rank E - 5
Rank D - 10
Rank C - 15
Rank B - 20
Rank A - 25
Rank S - 35
The amount of JP each rank begins with are the following:
Genin - 50
High Genin - 80
Chuunin - 150
Special Jounin - 180
Jounin - 250
ANBU - 280
Sannin - 350
Kage - 450
S Rank Criminal - 400
You may get additional JP by using one of the following methods:
1 - Training with your Sensei or by yourself. You will get one point per each 500 words of training in one topic, meaning that if you only write 300 words, they will not count for the next training. The Sensei will get one point for each 300 words (three students to deal with isn't easy, gotta have compensations), but only if he is teaching a student, and not training alone.
2 - Completing missions given by your Kage. After successful missions, you will get a decent amount of Points. Don't forget that the ninjas need to have certain ranks in order to do certain missions.
The amount of JP gained for completing missions are:
D- 8
C- 12
B- 16
A- 20
S- 24
3 - Battling! Battles will earn you a certain amount of Jutsu Points no matter if you win or lose. However we will regard how well you Rp and apply the rules. Good Rp skills, Intelligent Tactics, strategies and No breaking of rules are expected. You will gain more JP if everything is done correctly. The amount of Jps you will get at the end of each battle will range between 4 - 8 JPs, and will be awarded to you by an Admin/Mod. The better you Rp and apply the rules, the more JPs you will get
Note : Godmodding cuts down JP so be careful.
4 - Being a Kage is hard, for one must give missions to the others. As such, for each completed mission Kage's will receive an equal number of points -2, for each completed mission you have given your teams.
Custom Jutsus
You are allowed to make jutsus of your own as long as they are not overpowered for their rank and are not ripped off an existing jutsu meaning no renamed Chidori's and such.
